2024 D'Alemberte-Ellis Fellowship Application

The D’Alemberte-Ellis Fellowship offers supplemental financial awards to assist FSU College of Law students undertaking foreign international internships. The purpose of the Fellowship is intended to assist law students who have a significant interest in human rights law to gain practical experience through international legal work. Fellowship stipends may vary based on the financial need of the applicant, as well as the length and location of the work experience. Recipients will be known as D’Alemberte-Ellis Fellows.

It is anticipated that Fellows will participate in post-experience sharing with law students and faculty, including meeting with the selection committee to provide insight into their overseas work experience. Fellows will also be encouraged to write an article about their experiences.

These awards are intended to provide supplemental funding to FSU law students who have completed their first year and have secured unpaid (or minimally paid) work experiences outside of the United States in the field of human rights law.

Please refer to the separate “Suggested Organizations” document for potential placement sites. Applicants are not limited to those sites. A formal placement offer at the time of the application submission is not required, but a receipt of an award is conditional on securing a qualifying work placement.
